Meiji's Gift

Features of Japanese Shareholder Benefits – Meiji's Gift Has Arrived!

Today, I received Meiji’s shareholder benefits package, and it’s filled with exciting goodies! Inside the box, I found snacks, curry, and even vouchers for yogurt—plenty to keep me entertained for a while. In this post, I’ll share my excitement and give you a quick introduction to Japan’s shareholder benefits system.

What Are Shareholder Benefits?

Shareholder benefits, or "kabunushi yutai" in Japanese, are perks that companies offer to their shareholders. To receive these benefits, you need to hold a certain number of shares and have your name listed in the company’s shareholder registry on a specific record date.

For example, in Meiji’s case, the benefits include snacks, food items, and vouchers, while other companies might offer restaurant discounts or prepaid cards like Quo Cards. This system helps companies build closer relationships with shareholders and develop brand loyalty. It’s a fun way for investors to enjoy additional perks beyond the typical dividends.

Meiji’s Shareholder Benefits – What’s Inside?

This time, Meiji sent a variety of snacks, curry pouches, and yogurt vouchers. The package includes items like Hello Panda and cheese snacks, and now I can't decide what to try first!

(Stay tuned—I'll share detailed reviews of each item in future posts!)

Inside the box, there was another box! It was a cardboard box designed to look like the packaging of Meiji's milk chocolate. Opening it made the experience even more exciting!

Inside, there were Karu, a snack available only in the Kansai region of Japan, Meiji Milk Chocolate, retort curry, yogurt vouchers, and even Hello Panda, a popular treat in the U.S. and Singapore!

Why Shareholder Benefits Are Special

The charm of shareholder benefits lies in the fact that you get more than just cash dividends. Holding products from a company you support makes you feel more connected to them. It’s always a pleasant experience when familiar products, like those from Meiji, show up as gifts—motivating you to keep supporting the company even more.

Wrapping Up

In today’s post, I took a little break from my usual snack reviews to introduce the Japanese shareholder benefits system. I’ll be posting detailed reviews of the snacks and curry from this package in future updates, so stay tuned!

See you in the next review!
