Oyatsu Club
The Beginning of Oyatsu Club
The story of Oyatsu Club began with a small but memorable moment in the Netherlands. At a local cheese shop, a customer enthusiastically shared, “I’ve been to Japan three times!” Hearing those words, we were deeply moved by how much they loved Japan.
Later, we began to hear similar sentiments from travelers: “Japanese snacks are so unique, with their seasonal and regional varieties. They’re always delicious and exciting to try, but it’s frustrating that I can’t enjoy them anymore after leaving Japan.” These heartfelt comments inspired us to think, “What if we could share the joy of Japanese snacks with people around the world?”
In Japan, “oyatsu” refers to light snacks enjoyed between meals. But it’s more than just food—it’s a moment of relaxation and happiness. Japanese snacks, in particular, are special because they reflect the beauty of the seasons and the unique flavors of each region. These treats offer a small yet meaningful window into Japanese culture.
This is how Oyatsu Club was born. We carefully select a variety of snacks to deliver the charm of Japan to people worldwide. Each snack in our collection is chosen with care, aiming to create an experience that feels like a miniature journey through Japan, full of delightful discoveries.
"Oyatsu" refers to a light snack or sweet enjoyed in Japan between lunch and dinner. These snacks come in a variety of flavors, from sweet to savory, and are widely enjoyed as a refreshing break. This culture is embraced by both children and adults, with traditional dagashi (old-fashioned sweets) and region-specific treats being particularly popular.
Currently, "Oyatsu Club" is developing a subscription box service. The goal is to deliver a carefully curated selection of Japan's unique and seasonal snacks, along with beverages such as tea that pair perfectly with them, to people living overseas. Each month, these snacks will be delivered as part of a snack box, offering an authentic taste of Japan.
